the veneer is either palisander or zebrano.

zebrano has some kind of "zebra"-structure. the veneer used depends on the colours of the interiour (at least with the W108), maybe you can find more information at

the only other veneer used in mercedes cars from the sixties is wurzelnuss:

but that was used in 300se type cars only.
