Hi
My name is Bambang Witono Angkawijaya and I am an Indonesian. I went to the W111.net site and it was great.

I was offered a very 'rough' 220SE coupe. I saw it yesterday. It was in a stripped state and was in the process of being build again. The body and chassis looks ok, it was already painted with the first coat of paint.

Problem is, the onwer did not even know which engine that belong to the coupe, he pointed to an engine, but it has the prefix numeber (if I am not mistaken) of 1270110601. Does this number makes any sense? I read the book by frank barett and it was noted that the 220SE coupe engine number begin with 129, whereas 127 belongs to the 220SE fintail. But according to greg frank's specs the 220SEb (?) has a chassis prefix of 111.021 and engine number begins with 127.984 Now I am confused.

I was told that the coupe might not come with the windows, by the way, he claimed that it was made in 1963. It has no window chrome lists or rubbers. It has no front bumper, i think and no rear tail lights.

It is very rare to find a 220SE coupe or 250SE coupe here, not to mention 280SE 3.5, i think it would be impossible to find it here.

are the parts for the 220SE coupe expensive? Are they difficult to find? How much would the windows cost me? Are the chromed window list expensive and difficult to ship?

By the way, did all 220SEb came with stick shift gear? Is there any 220SEb that was fitted with a steering wheel shift gear? Becasue I did notice that the car had a shift stick ON the steering wheel. What about the windows, were they powered or manually operated?

Building the coupe would be a toght task, but I am kind of interested as you do not find much coupe or cabrio here in Indonesia. These cars are considered very rare in South East Asia, in particularly Indonesia.

By the way, I am a proud owner of a black, American Styled 1969 W-108 (280S, chassis nbr 108016-60021370) and a two toned (green and pearl white) 1962 W-111 (220b, chassis number 111012-10096015).

I am extremely glad and grateful that there is such a site where I can ask lots of stuffs. I am extremely grateful to Mr Pleff and Mr Karel Nijeboer for responding to my email and gave me a very detailed answer.

Please help me.

Thank You Very Much

Bambang
